San Francisco Giants update: Tim Lincecum munching on junk food to get beefy
As the 2011 Major League Baseball season draws near, the San Francisco Giants are gaining the right momentum in the Cactus League to lead off in the new campaign. Glendale, Arizona is hosting the club in Spring Training and players from all around the country
are working towards their personal goals.
For Tim Lincecum of the San Francisco giants, this may mean putting meat on his bones! The skinny pitcher was spotted feeding on a meal that would fill up a family of 3, after a recent game against the Chicago White Sox.
The hurler is looking at being ready for opening day duties and that has got him to put on some pounds in the recent weeks. Munching on 3 double burgers, 2 fries packs and a mega strawberry and chocolate shake isn’t normal but it’s necessary.
"That's probably not the best form of nutrients but I've always kind of just eaten what I've wanted to and worried about it later," Lincecum said. "Nothing's affected me now, so I'll stick to it."
Lincecum’s metabolism is high but he’s doing his best to feed on as the days to the league draw near.
"I just try to fight it by eating often and eating a lot when I can and eating until I'm full, and even then trying to stuff it in," he said.
The skinny pitcher led the race towards the 2010 World Series clinch, last season. For a 162 game season, the pitcher is looking at a major role again.
"I'm working harder, and my body keeps telling me to eat more and eat more often," Lincecum said. "I want to get my weight up and have something to work with from the beginning of the season on. I go by if my body's feeling good, and this feels good."
The 168-pound athlete, for now though, looks as skinny as ever! In any case the dietary habits of this two-time Cy Young winner are sure to create some smiles this season.
