San Francisco Giants veteran left-hander Barry Zito shutout Colorado Rockies 7-0 – MLB News
The San Francisco Giants veteran left hander starting pitcher Barry Zito masterful 7-0 shutout gave his team a brilliant win over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.
Team manager Bruce Bochy lately appreciated Zito’s talents and commented in the media. He was happy for his one of the best players in the roster clicked and now feeling comfortable at the mound.
Bochy said for Zito in detail, “Sure, it's unusual, He (Zito) didn't labor at any point. His pitch count was good. It was a great day. It wasn't hot. The weather was perfect. We checked on him and he said he felt fine, He threw the ball so well; we felt
he deserved the chance. He was locked in. He was throwing strikes and throwing all his pitches. We scored some runs early and we played good overall baseball, I did what I could to get (the Rockies) looking for a couple of pitches. When you can do that, that's
when things go well.”
The Giants pitcher was exceptional as he swung his arm with a fast curve ball on the mound consistently and the Rockies were kept guessing what is coming next from him. He received four hits and did not allow any walk keeping the Rockies on back foot while
on the other hand his teammates started to accelerate runs and finished with seven runs’ lead.
Rockies could not recover from Zito’s fast deliveries and lost the game in the end. Though Zito later finished at the end of eighth inning and a reliever pitched afterwards, but somehow he able to retain his career 6-2 against Rockies in total 16 starts.
Earlier the Arizona Diamondbacks have also beaten by the San Francisco Giants in their opening regular series. Later in the game when some reporters came to interview Zito, his teammate and Giants catcher Hector Sanchez also appreciated the way Zito performed
and played during the whole game.
Currently Barry Zito carrying a solid career 3.90 ERA along with 146-124 win-loss record, 1687 strikeouts and 1.30 WHIP and if things went well for him during the entire season, his stats will fly high while this is also a possibility that he might be considered
among the top pitchers at the end of the season.
