San Francisco Giants vs. Milwaukee Brewers: MLB Preview - May 27
The reigning World Series Champions, the San Francisco Giants are all geared up to take the Milwaukee Brewers in a three game series starting May 27
at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
After a terrible start this season, the Milwaukee Brewers are finally pulling up their socks. They had a lot of expectations coming into the season, but till recently they were not living up to those expectations. The Brewers rebounded and silenced all their
critics as they swept the Colorado Rockies and the Washington National in one series after the other. They have managed to bag wins in 13 out of their 16 previous games.
The Giants were probably sure of their win against the Brewers, but with them on fire now, the matchup between the two can swing in either teams favour. One disadvantage that the Giants have coming into the game is that this season’s star Buster Posey will
be absent from their line-up, probably for the rest of the season due to a plate-crash where Florida Marlins’ Scott Cousins slammed into him.
Posey’s presence would have been a definite help in taking on the baseball’s hottest team at the moment, where the Brewer’s are all set to put in their best efforts.
The media has been talking nonstop about the series that is yet to take place but Prince Fielder does not see it that way. He said, "I'm not thinking about it like that, that's kind of corny. I'm just hoping we'll get some more wins because we're playing
good baseball."
The Brewers’ manager, Ron Roenicke is also down-playing the idea of the series being any more that it is but he is aware of the fact that pitchers par excellence from both teams would be taking the mound against each other. "The pitching matchups are going
to be great," Roenicke said. "They've got a great pitching staff, both bullpen and starters. So we're going to have to play good defense, we're going to have to do the little things to beat them."
Friday night will see San Francisco’s Tim Lincecum battle it out with the Milwaukee’s Shaun Marcum. The pitching duel is anticipated to be as heated as the one that took place between Roy Halladay of the Philadelphia Phillies and Josh Johnson of the Florida
Marlins a few series’ back.
Shaun Marcum is the pitching ace of the Brewers who helped his team gets three consecutive sweeps at Miller Park while putting forward the best home record in Major League Baseball. He is definitely aware of who he will be going up against saying that Lincecum
is the two time Cy Young winner for his pitching abilities.
Tim Lincecum on the other hand is the dominating force that retired 21 Oakland Athletic batters just recently and is capable of throwing 133 pitches without being unfazed.
Whatever unfolds between the two teams would surely be a delight to watch for avid fans from both sides.
