I will be arriving in San Jose airport at 12:15 pm and need to get to Coco. How do I get from the airport to the bus stop/station that can take me to Coco? Do I need to have prior reservations? Also, is it better to take the Interbus and pay more, or to just take a public bus?

  1. If you are going to take a bus directly to Playa del Coco you have to catch the bus at avenida 1 y 3 and calle 14. And it leaves at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. You  can check the schedule yourself at

  2. IF you don't have a lot of luggage, I suggest you walk to the bus stop in front of the airport.  (It's about half a block's walk.)   Take the RED bus that goes to San Jose (the airport is actually in Alajuela).  That will cost you under $1 as opposed to the $20 for a taxi.  Once you get to the San Jose bus terminal, or any point in San Jose, then have a taxi to take you to the bus terminal that goes to Coco.  (That should be AROUND $3 or $5.)

You will need to have small bills and/or change in the national  CR currency to get on the bus.  (The taxi would more than likely be ok with American dollars.)
