San Jose Sharks Logan Couture coming back Home from Switzerland -NHL Lockout Update
The main point of playing abroad during the lockout was to stay sharp and active while there is a work stoppage in North America as the National Hockey League (NHL) and Players’ Association fail to agree on certain aspects.
After doing just that, San Jose Sharks’ top prospect, Logan Couture is believed to be returning back home from playing abroad, citing personal reasons along with the need to spend time with family, after being overseas for 22 games with the Geneve-Servette.
It is not believed that he will be returning to the foreign club anytime soon, but has not ruled out the option of leaving for good as he may just have to make a comeback if the entire season gets postponed, or even worse, locked out till the end.
"Just family reasons, nothing serious," Couture told CSNCalifornia.com. "I enjoyed the experience overall here, though."
Due to the playing experience he had in Switzerland in which Couture potted seven goals and 1 assists for a total of 23 points in 22 gamed, he feels that he is more than ready to get going if a season was to start at any moment, even as soon as tomorrow.
"I'm in game shape now," he added. "So if the season starts, I'm ready. If it's cancelled, I don't think I will play anywhere."
Logan Couture is a former ninth overall draft pick of the San Jose Sharks during round-one of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Since then, Couture has participated in three seasons with the San Jose Sharks and boasts a total of 184 games played with 130 points
(68 goals, 62 assists). This past hockey year was by far his best as the youngster potted 65 points (31 goals, 34 assists), a career high, in 80 games played.
He is also locked on to the San Jose Sharks to a two-year contract, worth a total of $5.75 million and giving him an annual salary cap hit of $2.875 million.
Logan Couture was the third player to leave the San Jose Sharks to play abroad, and is also the third to return.
