San Jose Sharks confident about final game against Detroit Red Wings
The San Jose Sharks got off to a flying start in the final period of game five of the semi-final series between the Sharks and the Red Wings.
Rookie star, Logan Couture, bagged a goal from a superb strike that put them in a 3-1 lead. With the series lead also in their favour with 3-1, it looked as if they would win the game and make their way into the Finals.
However, the Red Wings stepped up the pace after the goals and started to create chances for themselves. The frontline was able convert all the chances that came their way.
Resultantly, the Red Wings successfully notched up a win, as they scored three goals. The series was made more exciting with the win, as the Sharks lead 3-2 after losing the last game 4-3.
"This is hockey," said Sharks defenseman, Niclas Wallin. "We didn't relax. I thought we fought hard today and put up a lot of shots. But they're a good team and they're not going to give up. Today, it (stinks) right now. Just got to forget about this and
come back. We know we can play against these guys. We showed that tonight. Right now it's obviously frustrating, but we'll come back. It's going to make us stronger. We're still in control here. You've got to remember that".
Last year when the Sharks faced the Red Wings in the semi-finals, they managed to win the fifth game and went into the Conference Finals.
However, this time things were different as they couldn’t win the game and the series has gone into the sixth game with the Sharks still having the upper hand. The Red Wings were outshot by the Sharks 42-22 but still they managed to come up with a winning
performance.
Though the Sharks were struggling in the initial few minutes of the game, they managed to take the lead. The Sharks were able to get themselves a 2-0 lead in the game after which, the Red Wings responded.
However, in the end with some strong and efficient play, the Red Wings successfully scored goals to win the game 4-3 in the end. The shocking thing during the game was that the Sharks, who were one of the strongest teams in power-play, could do nothing in
the four power-play’s coming their way.
The Sharks are hoping that they would do better in the next game and come up with a win that could wrap up the series and put them in the Conference Finals.
