San Jose Sharks face set-back losing 4-0 against the Los Angeles Kings in game two
The second game of the Western Conference clash between the San Jose Sharks and the Los Angeles Kings was played at the HP Pavilion Center this Saturday that saw the Sharks winning 4-0 in the end. Though the Sharks were considered to be favourites to win this game, the Kings surprised everyone by coming up with a superb performance, which saw them effectively levelling the series.
As expected, Sharks were the dominating force at the start of the game, but were unable to find the back of the net with the same consistency. Though some of their shots were destined to go into the net, the goal keeper did an excellent job to keep the scores on level terms. The Kings got better and scored twice in the period to get into a comfortable position. The second period saw both teams reluctant going on the attacks but the Kings still managed to score a goal. The story in the final period was no different with the Kings scoring the lone goal once again to win 4-0 in the end. Drew Doughty of the Kings was named the star of the game as he scored two goals and ended with two assists.
The Sharks began the game high on confidence, their attacks bringing them close to scoring on several occasions. The Sharks were facing the problem of not being able to score for the first time after quite a while.
The Kings on the other hand, took advantage of this and were improving with the passage of time. The Kings came across a power-play and successfully scored through Jack Johnson from a powerful strike to get into the lead.
The power-play proved to be very productive for the Kings, as they bagged another goal in the 16th minute through Drew Doughty’s powerful strike. Both teams had a few more shots on goal, but neither of them was able to change the scores.
The period ended with the Kings leading 2-0 as they made 10 shots on goal while the Sharks made 15 shots on goal.
The Sharks were quick out of the blocks once again and made several shots on goal. Unfortunately, for the Sharks it was the Kings who scored and further extended their lead. The goal was scored by Doughty once again from another powerful strike in the 16th minute.
There were a couple of more shots on goal but neither of the team was successful in scoring. The period ended with the Kings leading 3-0 as they made six shots on goal while the Sharks made eight shots on goal.
The Kings managed to change the direction of the wind and began stronger of the two teams in the final period. Taking advantage of the strong start, unlike their competitors, the Kings scored. The goal was a result of a Kyle Clifford backhand shot.
The period witnessed both teams’ frequently firing shots on goal but there were no more goals scored as the Kings finally halted recording a 4-0 win.
