San Jose Sharks hoping to carry same form in game 4 to level things in the series (Part 2)
San Jose Sharks play-making was brilliant during the fourth game and their offense proved to be very productive during the night.
The fact that they made their physical presence felt on ice, added to the already strong performance of Sharks’ Jamie McGinn, who injured two of Canucks’ main players in defence.
Canucks also face a problem of replacing players who were consistently helping the team in offence as well as defence and had quite a few goals to their names.
McGinn was sent to the bench for five minutes after the hit on Aaron Rome. After the game, the National Hockey League disciplinary committee reviewed the challenge and revealed that the tackle was not entirely legal but still there wasn’t any additional
penalty on him.
Sharks was always said to be a team that lacked the physical side of the game when it came to the play-offs.
"I think I've looked at the hit 100 times", McGinn said. "I can't stress enough, I don't want to hurt anyone. I hope for a quick recovery for Rome. It's too bad that he got hurt on the play. I looked at it a bunch of times. I was closing, I tried to slow
up and I hit him on the left shoulder. You can see both the 2 and the 9 on the back of his sweater, so I didn't hit him from behind. It's just one of those freak accidents where he hit his head on the glass. I didn't want that to happen".
Sharks is starting to develop its reputation among some of the tough and very physical teams in NHL. In the second game of the series, Canucks’ forward, Ben Eager, delivered a strong hit on Daniel Sedin that earned a two-minute penalty for the player, but
again there was no further action taken against him by the NHL disciplinary committee.
Sharks totally lost in the second game of this series as they committed fouls every now and then and gave away a total of 13 penalties.
This was coupled with the fact that Canucks scored three power-play goals. However, the last game saw the roles totally changed with Sharks performing more like Canucks to win the game and cut Canucks’ lead in the series to 2-1.
