San Jose Sharks host the Colorado Avalanchein the two sides' fourth and final meeting this season - NHL Previews
The San Jose Sharks will be hosting the final games of Tuesday as they play host to the Colorado Avalanche at the Consol Energy Centre.
This is the fourth and final meeting between the two sides. Out of the three games that have taken place between the two teams, Sharks lead the series 2-1.
In the most recent encounter between the two teams on the 19th of February, the Sharks dominated the game and came up with a brilliant 4-0 win.
Some experts say that this is one of the total mismatched games of the season with the Sharks in hot form and the Avalanche all cold.
The Sharks have come up with a brilliant performance playing home which has seen them scoring five out of a possible six points.
They have been in superb form recently and are looking to contend for the Western Conference.
Avalanche, on the other hand, will be looking to record their first regulation time after weak performances in their last three games. The month of February saw them winning just one game in regulation time as they maintained a 1-11-1 record.
The Avalanche in fact is going through some of the toughest times in the season as they have lost 13 out of their last 14 games.
They are currently on a road trip which has seen them losing games against the Los Angeles Kings and the Anaheim Ducks already.
Though some of the blame can be put on the injuries that they have come across but the players haven’t also performed to the best of their abilities.
Avalanche not only face problem in the department of offence but their defence is also very weak.
During the course of the last 18 games their defence has allowed three or more goals which means that their defence is one of the weakest in the league currently. If the Avalanche is looking to avoid the final spot in the league then they need to step up
on the gas.
Both the teams have played 63 games during the course of the season which have seen the Avalanche winning 26 games in regulation time, seven games in overtime to score a total of 59 points.
Sharks, on the other hand, are in hot form as they have won 36 games in regulation time, six games in overtime to score 78 points.
The Sharks are in of the best forms that they have come across in their recent history. They lost one of their games in early January 0-0 but it is all forgotten.
Sharks have been ever so dominating after this as they won come up with one of the best records in the league which has seen them winning 15 games out their last 18 games in regulation time.
The Sharks were on a road trip which saw them winning by a total of 3-0 against the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Now they start a six-game home stand and with the current performance may very well move into the second position in their conference.
The game is definitely going to be in favour of the Sharks but the Avalanche certainly have the capability to surprise any big team on their day.
