San Jose Sharks need three straight wins against Vancouver Canucks or its good-bye (Part 1)
San Jose Sharks was considered to be a tough team but it hasn’t been able to post the same threat against Vancouver Canucks so far.
The Canucks have so far cruised past them in three out of four games and from the looks of it, they are all set to wrap up the series in the fifth game at the Rogers Arena.
Sharks was said to be in trouble after Canucks bagged a superb performance in the second game that saw them winning 7-3. At that moment, all that Sharks’ coach, Todd McLellan, had to say was that it was too early to predict anything or to panic about anything.
"A wise man once told me you're never really in trouble till you lose a game at home", McLellan said.
Now that Canucks have come up with an important 4-2 win against Sharks, they need to be aware that they are in great trouble. Canucks lead the series 3-1 and as a result, with the next game on Canucks’ home ice, things are looking pretty bad for Sharks.
"It's a test," Sharks forward Ryane Clowe said. "We haven't been in these situations this year obviously for the playoffs. We've held control of the series for the most part, the (first) two series. It's going to be a test. We've seen Tampa, who could possibly march into the finals, and you look at their first series and they looked like they were getting dominated by Pittsburgh. They got it together and they won in Pittsburg and then came back home and you see what happened.”
Sharks has recently shown that it is a very good team when it comes to playing on away ice.
However, this should also be kept in mind that it is by no means the team that it was during the course of the regular season. Its form has considerably deteriorated and it hasn’t won games with the same consistency.
Sharks has already gone through a tough time during the play-offs when it was up against the Detroit Red Wings.
The series was close and went right down to the wire even though they were leading the series 3-0 at one time.
Nevertheless, Sharks regrouped at the time to combine very well in Game 7 of the series against Red Wings. In the end, the result was fruitful as they won the game and moved into the Conference Finals.
Now, once again they are in a difficult situation and this time they have no margin for error with the Canucks only one win away from a spot in the Stanley Cup Finals.
