San Jose Sharks re-sign restricted free-agent forward Brandon Mashinter in a one-year deal
San Jose Sharks, a professional ice hockey side that plays in the Eastern Conference of National Hockey League (NHL), re-signed one of their restricted free agents, Brandon Mashinter. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed by anyone abiding by
the clubs rules and regulations.
The announcement was made by Doug Wilson, Executive Vice-President and General Manager of San Jose Sharks on Wednesday, according to which Mashinter is signed in a one year deal.
On the other hand capgeek.com says that the deal is signed for $550,000 for playing in the NHL and $75,000 for playing in the AHL.
This is the second time that 23-year-old Canadian forward has signed a deal with Ducks, first being a three-year entry-level deal that was signed for $1,707,500 on 3rd March 2009 as a free agent, after being undrafted.
The Bradford, Ontario resident started his hockey career at the age of 15 in Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League (OPJHL) in 2003-2004 season, for Thornhill Major Islanders. He played only one game in his opening season, in which he did not score any
goal or assist. He changed his team to Thornhill Thunderbirds in the following season and got many more games and playing minutes as he finished that season with three goals, six assists and total nine points in 48 games.
Mashinter made his senior’s hockey debut in the same season as he switched to Ontario Hockey League side Sarnia Sting, where he played three seasons, before moving to Kitchener Rangers for two seasons and then Belleville Bulls in his final season at OHL.
The left-winger, after signing with Sharks in 2009, moved to their AHL side Worcester Sharks and had an above average first season with them, scoring 22 goals, 15 assists and 37 total points in 79 games that he played in. The NHL debut was made by him in
the 2010-2011 season as he played 13 games but unfortunately for him that he could not score a single point, which resulted in him being sent back to AHL.
Overall in AHL, the 6-foot-4, 209 pounder has scored at an average of one point per two games, by scoring 52 goals, 51 assists, 103 total points in 206 games.
