San Jose Sharks thrashes Dallas Stars in an overwhelming 6-0 shutout in its bid to win the Division

San Jose Sharks played host to Dallas Stars this Thursday at the HP Pavilion Center that saw the home team thrashing Stars by 6-0. The game was important for both teams as they were chasing some targets.
Sharks was looking to win the Division and moving up the standing in the Western Conference while Stars needed the two important points to move into the cut as it is currently at the ninth spot.
Both teams made quite a few shots on goal but it was Sharks that scored the lone goal of the period to get into the lead.
Sharks continued on the dominating roads and scored two more goals in the second period to get into a decent position.
The final period again saw Sharks showing its productivity as it scored three goals in the final period to win the game 6-0 in the end.
Patrick Marleau, Sharks’ winger was named the star of the game as he scored two goals during the course of the game.
Shots flooded on goal from the start but Sharks looked better on the offence and it was successful in scoring in the 17th minute through Dan Boyle’s brilliant backhand shot to get into the lead.
Stars was able to match the pace of Sharks at times but it was unable to convert the chances into goals. There were some easy chances for both teams that could have found the back of the net but this didn’t happen.
The period ended with Sharks leading 1-0 as it made 14 shots on goal during the period while Stars made 10 shots on goal.
The second 20 minutes of play kicked off in the same manner and once again it looked as if Sharks was able to dominate the offence and control the pace of the game.
Sharks scored once again in the fifth minute through Logan Couture’s brilliant backhand shot to double its lead. There were several shots on goal after the goal with both teams again coming across some easy scoring chances.
Sharks scored once again in the 19th minute through Marc-Edouard Vlasic to further extend its lead. The period ended with Sharks leading 3-0 as it made 17 shots on goal while Stars made 11 shots on goal.
The final 20 minutes of play saw Sharks totally on top and it scored in the third minute through Patrick Marleau.
Marleau scored once again in the 13th minute with a brilliant backhand shot. Sharks sealed the game with another goal in the 15th minute which was scored by Ben Eager from another superb backhand shot.
Sharks won the game by 6-0 as it made 21 shots on goal in the final period while Stars made eight shots on goal.
