San Jose Sharks win 2-0 against the Washington Capitals in the 805th game of the 2010 Copuware NHL Premiere Series
Another one of Tuesday’s game was played at the Verizon Center as the Washington Capitals played host to the San Jose Sharks.
A massive crowd came to witness the 805th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series.
San Jose Sharks absolutely dominated the game in the opening two periods but they couldn’t score any goals.
The final period started with the Sharks playing with the same dominating strategy and scored twice to win the match 2-0 in the end. Logan Couture, centre of the San Jose Sharks was named the star selection of the match for his opening goal of the game.
Both teams started the game on similar roads which saw them coming up with decent plays and shooting every now and then. But the Sharks started to get stronger than their opponents with the passage of time and it looked as they would score a goal but their
shots went just wide or were stopped by the goal keeper.
The Sharks came up with an excellent defence as well which cut down any attacks that might have become dangerous later on. Though Washington Capitals came up with some good attacking but it wa overshadowed by the dominance of San Jose Sharks in every department.
The period ended with both teams making shots on goal and puck going up and down the ice but no goals were scored. During the course of the period, San Jose Sharks made 15 goal attempts while the Washington Capitals made 9 goal attempts.
The second period started with the home team, Washington Capitals coming up with a few goal attempts early on. Out of these early chances, one was very easy with an open net but the puck was shot wide of the target.
However, it was only for a few minutes as after this the period was totally dominated by the San Jose Sharks who repeated the previous period’s performance and dominated each and every department. Their defence was again brilliant and offensive play shattered
the defence but they failed to convert the several goal attempts they got.
The period saw the Sharks coming up with some brilliant pieces of play that saw them getting past the opposing defence easily. However, despite the numerous shots that piled up at the end of the period Sharks weren’t able to score. The period ended with
the scores still level on 0-0 with Sharks making 12 goal attempts in the period while Washington Capitals made 12 goal attempts in the period.
The final period of the game saw both teams coming out strongly attacking but it were San Jose Sharks who finally managed to score in the 12th minute through Logan Couture to get into the lead after a spectacular flick shot.
The San Jose Sharks continued to pile pressure on the Washington Capitals and successfully doubled the lead with another goal in the 15th minute scored by Dan Boyle from a long range powerful strike. Both teams fired shots on goal as the period
neared its end but the score didn’t change.
It was San Jose Sharks who won the match 2-0 in the end. In the final period, San Jose Sharks made 9 goal attempts while Washington Capitals made 12 goal attempts.
