San Jose Sharks win three straight beat Nashville Predators 3-1 -NHL Match Update
San Jose Sharks extended their winning streak on Tuesday night to three in a row by beating the Nashville Predators, 3-1, at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, United States, as Joe Pavelski scored two goals including the tie-breaker and game-winner
to led his team to victory.
As the third and final period of regulation was coming to a close and Nashville scored, the home crowd was beginning to think that they might actually take the matchup or either head into an overtime extension, but quick play making by Patrick Marleau and
Joe Thornton gave San Jose the lead they needed to win.
Off to a perfect so far, six-game road trip, San Jose’s head coach, Todd McLellan, just hopes that his team can keep up the momentum after getting off to a disappointing start by losing three of their first four games of the 2011-2012 National Hockey League
(NHL) regular season.
"Well, it is, considering the way we left San Jose", McLellan said of the promising start to the trip after three straight losses. "We had some good games, but we didn't put any points in the bank. Nobody panicked, we stuck with the plan and we've had some
tough buildings on this trip so far against some very good teams and found some ways to win, but it only gets tougher as we move on and we didn't leave San Jose to just win three games”.
Logan Couture fired off a shorthanded goal 14:22 into the first as San Jose lost Justin Braun for holding with a minor penalty, but could not take advantage of the power play awarded to them nearly a minute later with Nashville’s Nick Spaling being called
for holding the stick of another player.
Craig Smith levelled the match for Nashville 13:12 into the final period on their last added man advantage for his third of the season but not only a minute had passed by when Pavelski made the tie-breaker followed by another with less than four minutes
remaining to win it.
The Sharks play their fourth straight road game against Detroit Red Wings on Friday, while Nashville has two more at home against Tampa Bay on Thursday and Anaheim Ducks on Saturday before the month ends.
