San Jose Sharks wins 4-0 against the Colorado Avalanche in the final game of Saturday
The final game of Saturday was hosted by the San Jose Sharks as they were up against the Colorado Avalanche at the Hp Pavilion Arena. The game was important for the Sharks as they looked to strengthen their chances of a strong finish in the Western Conference.
The game saw the Sharks dominate the game right from the start and score three goals during the opening period of the game. The Sharks scored once again in the final period to emerge as 4-0 winners of the game. Devin Setoguchi, winger of the Sharks was named
the star selection of the game as he scored thrice during the game.
The Sharks were on top of their game right from the start of the proceedings. Not only did they combine well but they were able to near and threaten the goal every now and then. However, the strength in their attacks wasn’t enough at the start.
The Avalanche came up with a few shots as well but their attacks by no means matched those made by the Sharks. The fans got something to cheer as the home teams scored through Devin Setoguchi from a brilliant backhand shot in the 7th minute.
The Sharks constructed some brilliant pieces of play that resulted in the home team continuing to come across scoring chances. It was just a matter of time as to when the Sharks would score once again. It took them some time in doing so but they scored two
goals in quick succession to set the crowd wild.
Both goals were scored during the power play with the first scored by Devin Setoguchi from a powerful strike in the 15th minute while the second was scored by Ryane Clowe from another brilliant strike in the 17th minute. The Sharks
continued to pile shots on goal but they couldn’t find the back of the net.
The period ended with the Sharks leading 3-0. During the period they made 17 goal attempts while the Avalanche made 7 goal attempts.
The second period was mostly dominated by the defence of both sides. Though some brilliant pieces of pay were seen during the period but unlike the first period, the Sharks weren’t successful in coming up with the final touch.
The period saw both teams coming up with decent goal attempts throughout the period but no goals were scored during the 20 minutes of play as the period ended with the Sharks leading 3-0. The second period saw the Sharks making 4 goal attempts while the
Avalanche made 11 goal attempts.
The final 20 minutes of play saw both teams a little better as the game was evenly balanced between the two sides. However, there were no goals early on with the only goal of the period scored in the 19th minute through Devin Setoguchi who completed
his hat-trick and sealed the deal for the Sharks.
The game ended with the Sharks winning 4-0. The final 20 minutes saw the Sharks making 12 goal attempts while the Avalanche made 6 goal attempts.
