San Luis Obispo sweeps against the Eagles on Tuesday – Volleyball news
San Luis Obispo was able to secure themselves a victory on Tuesday by handing out a defeat to the Eagles.
The match took place at the home ground of the Tigers who were able to reward the enthusiasm of their fans well by securing themselves a win in a clean sweep of the Eagles. With the recent win, the Tigers have secured themselves the second position in the
rankings of the league matches.
Despite having lost the match, the Eagles did not go down without putting up a good fight. They were able to two bring the first two sets close enough to give themselves a fighting chance. However, the third set of the match was not so fiercely competed
as it should have been.
When the night was out and the Tigers were celebrating their win by jumping with joy and the Eagles were heading out of the court, cradling their disappointment, the scoreboard translated the entire match by displaying the following final set scores: 25-22,
26-24, 25-16.
The first set of the match set the tone for the next one. As soon as the first serve went in the air, it was clear that neither the Eagles nor the tigers would let down on the attack or the defence. As a result what followed was a thrilling match with the
lead staying with no side for a long time. Not even until the final stages of the set was it sure which way the tables would turn. Eventually however, the Tigers were able to bag the first set of the game at 25-22.
As competitive as the first set of the match was, the second set followed the same note. The Eagles did not let the loss of the first set demotivate them into putting up a shabby performance. Neither were the Tigers ready to let go of the advantage that
they had gotten themselves by winning the first set.
Therefore, the second set also reached its final stages before the Tigers gave a final push and secured it at 26-24.
After putting on such a spectacular fight in the starting two sets of the game, it seemed as if the Eagles lost their spirit in the third. Once the Tigers had control of the third set, they did not have a hard time in maintaining the advantage.
In contrast, it seemed to be only a half hearted effort that the Eagles were putting in what turned out to be the final set of the game. The Tigers sealed the deal by winning the third set at 25-16.
“It definitely gives us confidence,” San Luis Obispo middle blocker Michael Hansen said. “This is obviously an A.G. team that’s pretty good, so if we can beat them in three games we can pretty much beat anyone.”
