I guess the first time I posted my question i was not clear enough.

I am planning on going to San Diego and than walk to Tj with a friend of mine who often goes there and told me that when you cross the border on foot the mexicans don't stop you to check IDS.

NOw, OF COURSE I am going to bring a passport with me. But this is the question.

Let's say when I enter mexico no one asks for my ID and than I decide to take a plane to Ciudad de Mexico to visit another friend, am I gonna be in trouble at the airport of Tj because there is no record of my entrance in Mexico?

  1. If you fly from TJ to Mexico City you need your passport. You will also need to get a visitor's visa or tourist visa, which you can get at the airport. It is preferred that you get it before you board your flight but you can also obtain it on your flight.

My family travels to Mexico alot and we always fly from TJ to save on airfare. Plus Aeromexico has some great deals right now on advance purchases. ($99 each way) If you are still unsure you can call the airline and they can answer all your questions. Hope this helps!

  2. Not that I know of.

  3. My recommendation to you, before crossing the border to go to tijuana, that you please go to a nearby travel agency and feel free to ask.

They are the ones who are knowledgable in this area.

I wish to the best of luch and a safe trip.

  4. No ID is necessary to get into Mexico, but while on the plane, you may be asked to fill out an immigration/visa slip and pay a small fee.  Also, you will need to check in with the authorities at the destination airport's  immigration entry.  They will probably want to see your passport and then ask you for how long you plan to stay.  Maximum stay is 6 months.

Of course, you will need your passport to get back into the U.S., (I am assuming that is where you are from given that you said San Diego).

  5. You don't need a passport to travel from Tj to Mexico city.

  6. Because this is a two part question I am going answer both parts for you.

If you go to Tijuana by foot and/or by car, you will need to have some proof of identification like a valid driver's license, a birth certificate or a valid U.S. passport.

Should you do decided to go anywhere inside the Mexican Republic, then yes you will need your U. S. passport and for the record you will not get into any trouble provided that you answer the questions quick and to the point.

  7. no
