San francisco state parking?

I just started going to SF state for spring 08 and the parking situation sucks!!! $1 an hour for parking in the parking lot. I go everyday and two days for 5 hours. I ran out of $$$ so I parked on the side street for an hour which was .25 cents for every 10 min. I got 2 parking tickets already which were 50$ each. The school is gypping everyone out of money and I'm really frustrated and pissed! its bad enough I have to worry about classes and getting to them on time. but now I have to drive around and around and around looking for something open!

can someone please help me? I live on the peninsula so I go north if that helps.

someone said they park somewhere and take a bus? what bus does anyone know?

tia I'm just trying to figure this out!!!

  1. Parking sucks at most urban universities.  I know UCLA meters are $2/hr, so SF isn't that bad.  Do they not sell semester passes?

And I heard SF had pretty good public transit, can't you use that?

  2. You really have two choices:

    1. Park in the Villas away from campus where there is free 2 hour parking - like on the big circle in the middle of Font, (this is best for short days).

    2. Buy a "parking debit card" for the garage and use that for your long days (at least that way you don't always need cash).

    Best of luck.
