http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758’s former captain, Sanath Jayasuriya, who is a key member of the Sri Lankan domestic side, Ruhunu Eleven, revealed that his team can produce shocking and stunning results during the upcoming Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20).
Today Ruhunu Eleven is going to collide with West Indian domestic champions, Trinidad & Tobago, in the first Qualifying match of the CLT20 at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
Before the start of the match, the hard-hitting batsman, Jayasuriya, who has always been famous for his aggressive batting, seemed excited over representing the Ruhunu side along with youngsters, and termed his team as the underdogs of the tournament.
"We are the underdogs. We have got a young team, but with lot of young stars who are playing good cricket in domestic cricket (in Sri Lanka). Now they (youngsters) have got an opportunity here to play in a big league and they want to do well here," he expressed while talking to media.
“My young teammates want to show that they are good and we all want to do well. It`s a process and we need to do our process right and we will see what the result is," he added in same statement.
Meanwhile he advised his young team to play up to their potential to give a tough time to opponents.
The 42-year-old Jayasuriya, who earned real fame during the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cup 1996 because of his outstanding batting performance which helped his country to win the title, cited that the Twenty20 format of the game is very unpredictable, therefore, they have to concentrate on every department to strengthen their chances to win the CLT20.
"It`s (Twenty20) a tough game. Whenever we play Twenty20 cricket we never know what will happen. You need to play well on all three fronts batting, bowling and fielding." The left-handed batsman Jayasuriya continued.
Meanwhile, Jayasuriya, who played 110 Test matches, and 445 One Day Internationals for his country, scoring 6973, and 13430 runs respectively, showed his desire to help Ruhunu Eleven with his all-round performance during the league by utilising his International and domestic experience.
