Sanath or ponting in ODI's?

is jayasuriya more effective that ponting in one dayers?

Sanath for his age i must say is quite good.

Ponting is good too, but he only scored the bulk of his runs after year 2000, before that he only averaged 30 in ODI's...

jaisurya becoz he is a good all rounder and in one day he is very good and handy with a bowl. becoz one day game is all rounder's game now days. and he can bowl and bat both well.

Overall as a cricketer i think Jayasuriya is on par with Ricky Ponting because he bowls wheras Ponting is just a good batsman and a fielder.

Sanath may not be as good a fielder as Ponting but still a decent fielder.

As a batsman,Ponting is much valuable because of his consistency and he scores 10 more runs than Jayasuriya per game.

Sanath is a better striker than Punter who can hit big big shots but the avaerage of Sanath in ODIs is not as much as of Punter,Both have been doing at their best scoring over 10000 runs & both being successful skippers,but Ricky has performed better than Sanath if we consider it in all.Both have played their best cricket game,Sanath has done his big job in both bat & ball showing a great all-round performance but has failed often as well.Ricky has played a best role as skipper,Batsman,Great fielding & looking at the efforts,we should say Ponting is one step better than Sanath.

Ponting is better than Sanath in batting & fielding. Sanath is better than Ponting in bowling.

Overall, Sanath is a better player than Ponting, considering everything i.e. batting, bowling, fielding.

In fact, Sanath's career contribution in ODI is so huge, there is only one player above him (a player from India, playing since 1989).
