Sanchez Armino, who is the President of the Referees’ Association in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011, has appealed to the coaches in the Primera Division to follow the rules and show respect to the referees
Recently, the dismissal of coaches in Spanish La Liga has seen a sharp increase due to decision protests by coaches during the matches. As for the tenth week into the season, the number of coaches dismissed due to protests has
exceeded those of last season.
Last week the coaches have appealed to the referees to show more relaxation when they are dealing with the touchline issues, but the president of the referees’ association has turned the tables and put the blame on the coaches.
He said the coaches are looking for someone to blame and want an apology from them for everything that goes wrong.
“They are always looking for an apology from us.”
The chief defended the referees and said that they always apply the rules and are highly qualified for their jobs since they are selected by the football’s governing body, FIFA.
“The referee has before him the rules of the game to enforce. Some of them are not liked, but they come from FIFA and we must apply them.”
Armino admits that there are problems in the game and that sometimes contentious decisions are taken. Regardless he believes all this can be solved in a professional manner.
“To solve it they have to behave like a sporting person must do.”
He continued and stated the continuous habit of the coaches and their staff to make gestures and try to influence the decision of the referee whenever things don’t go in their favor.
“The problem is that it has become routine and for them all - the substitutes, the doctors, the assistant Coaches… It’s not good for football and we have to curb the stress and respect the rules.”
“They have to realize that they must have respect at all levels.”
Finally, he concluded his statements in a funny manner when some hinted at the possibility of a strike by the coaches.
“Would the Coaches strike? Don’t make me laugh.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mauricio-c24899 Pellegrino was the last coach to be sent off from the dugout area.
