Sanchez helps lead New York Jets to 37-10 victory over Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14 – NFL Recap
Mark Sanchez with two touchdown passes and two scores helped lead the New York Jets to an all-out 37-10 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. The Jets have now extended their straight wins to three games brightening their bleak
looking chances of playoffs.
The Jets surely made look real their Head Coach Rex Ryan’s earlier statement that the team did not lack in confidence. Sanchez is now the first quarterback for the Jets to score two touchdowns and two touchdown passes.
"I was happy we had another opening-drive touchdown. It set the tone early, and we converted on some big third downs and didn't get too many third downs, which was good. We had some explosive plays and the run game really took
off." Sanchez said.
Sanchez completed 13 of 21 passes for 181 yards. Shonn Greene had 24 carries for 129 yards with a touchdown, while LaDainian Tomlinson and Santonio Holmes both got hold of touchdown passes.
Coach Rex Ryan was impressed by the performance and called it the best so far this year.
Unlike the past games, the Jets this time managed a start fast reaching to 28 points by the end of first half. An incapable Chiefs offence failed to curtail the points scored by the Jets. Their offence could claim just 4 yards
in the first half of the game.
The Jets were in-charge of the game from the very first quarter after a touchdown on a 1 yard run was scored by Sanchez. The Chiefs were able to reply with a 53 Yard field goal by Ryan Succop and lessen the trail to 3-7.
However, the second quarter saw the game edge in heavy favour of the Jets as they scored three touchdowns within the span of ten minutes. The first touchdown was scored by Santonio Holmes of a 4 yard Pass from Mark Sanchez. Just
six minutes later Shonn Greene ran 7 yards for another score. This was followed by a touchdown by LaDainian Tomlinson of a 19 yard Pass by Sanchez.
The Chargers offence failed to deliver again in the third quarter as Mark Sanchez went for his second score that day to haul the Jets to a huge margin of 35-10.
The game did not end in a happy ending for the Jets who lost starting safety Jim Leonhard early in the game to a knee injury. Ryan looked concern as Leonhard is now scheduled to have an MRI on his knee.
"I'm hopeful it's not that bad but it's never good when you're carted off." Ryan said.
Tyler Palko completed 16 of 32 passes for 195 yards and scored a touchdown. However he was sacked as many as five times.
"The Jets put a lot of pressure. That's just what they do. They have guys all over the place." Palko said
Also spoiling the game for the Chiefs was Dwayne Bowe’s dropping an imminent touchdown pass in the fourth quarter of the game. That was not all for the Chiefs who faced many penalties in the game.
