  1. Just get those tiny STONES instead of sand...

I once had those sand i got from the beach.. Once I pour them in, my water turns to h**l... I can hardly see anything in it

  2. Buy it from a pet shop.

  3. Buy it from the pet store. they, more likly than not, would sell only sand that is compatible for aquarium use.

In some parts of the globe, however, sand bought from a pet store is more expensive than other shops. as such, careful selection must be made.

Do not use construction sand or any sand that has any sharp edges which may iritate the fish.

If your using a freshwater aquarium, do not use coral sand or any sand that has light colors. the blare from their light shade will irritate the fishes as well.

Light weight sands are definite no-no's. once water is poured, some fragments may float and make their way into your fish's gills which may cause ich and other dieases.

In order to make the right choice, familiarize yourself with the texture of aquarium sand. what do they look like when they are together? How do they feel when you rub them against your skin? How do they behave in water conditions? and lastly, how much to they compact once water is added.
