Sand Volleyball, Why music?

Im sitting here watching the mens sand volleyball and I noticed that during all of the breaks between play they play music in the background but not during play, why?

  1. If I was them I'd hate the music, its distracitng while you play

I haven't been watching the Olympics but I assume it's kind of like going to NBA games.  During every stoppage in play (which there are a ridiculous amount) they blast like 15 seconds of the latest and greatest pop song and then stop it when play resumes.  Like the previous poster said, it's probably to appeal to younger audiences or to make the game "more interesting" (if that's possible).  But it really is insanely annoying.

  3. Because the sport is all about show and hype. They try to make it appealing to younger crowds. It is sad, because music has no place in sports in that sense (including gymnastics). Just let them play!
