Question:

Sand boa feeding technique?

All right, I just got a Russian Sand Boa (Eryx miliaris). I know it's not good to feed them on sand substrate so i won't do it. By the way, i always feed my kingsnake and milksnake inside their cages and not to handle them bout a day before feeding time cuz i found that they don't wanna eat if you recently just handled them even if i try to move them to a feeding box, so i decide to just feed them inside their enclosures.

But since i can't feed my sand boa inside its enclosure with sand substrate, i guess i should feed it outside then, eh? Is it gonna be intimidated if i handle it just to move him to another feeding container and won't eat? How bout if i try to place a deli cup with pinkies inside its cage? Do you still have to move the snake to the deli cup that way? Well, i'm just worried that mine won't eat since my kingsnake and milksnake won't if i touch it before feeding time.

Any suggestion from sand boa experienced people there on feeding technique? Thank u a lot ^^

  1. what i do with my rough scaled sand boa is set up a small feeding bin. then fins my sand boa and quickly put them in the container so they don't think i'm handling him and he should be fine.

  2. well first of all most snakes bite u if u feed them in their cage when u try to take them out so i actually put mine in a cardboard box to feed(airholes need) i would feed it on a box or something but do not disturb it once it is eating i also hold it for 10 minutes prior to feeding
