  1. Hello; sand boas make excellent pets. :)

I have kept several different Sand boa species over the years and currently have a Kenyan sand boa. Along with Rosy boas; mine have been some of the best natured, calmest snakes that I have ever had and are a favorite of mine to work with.

Heck; my Kenyan sand boa, Styx, is often referred to by people who meet him as 'the reptile world's answer to the teddy bear' because of how sweet and mellow he is. ;)

They are also small, great feeders, great shedders and don't need much in the way of humidity which makes them very easy to keep. They are actually much lower maintenance than a lot of common 'beginner' species of boids like Ball pythons.

While there are some species that are more aggressive than others; Kenyan Sand boas, Saharan Sand boas, Arabian Sand boas, Desert Sand boas, and Rough-scaled Sand boas are all generally incredibly docile. The two most popular of those to find in captivity are the Kenyans and the Rough-scales, so I will include care sheets on both of them, and one on sand boas in general for further reading:

I hope this helps and if you have any further questions at all on the subject; please feel free to message me and I will be more than happy to assist you. :)

    Good luck!
