My daughter found a sand dollar when we were at Cocoa Beach, FL. Of course she is wanting to show it off (at school) and well, I would like to keep it in one piece. Not sure what to put it in to display it. I have done some searching on the web, just not sure what to look for.

  1. I once saw a small frame with a sand dollar inside and a copy of the legend of the sand dollar beside it. It was very pretty. You should be able to make it yourself. Some of the beautiful scrapbooking papers available now would make a great background. You should be able to even find a small shadowbox type frame if a regular frame won't work for you. Here's a website with a few different versions of the legend of the sand dollar on it that you might like to print. Hope this helps some.

  2. Get a shadow box frame, put a piece of black velvet inside, and use double stick tape to mount the sand dollar to the velvet.  Use the tape to also stick the velvet to the box.  Get a copy of the legend of the sand dollar to mount with it.

  3. Find an old used book, at any thrift store for about a quarter, take a craft knife and cut the pages out so that it makes a frame you can glue the sandollar into, paint the edges of the book pages with a coat of glue so that they will stay together and glue the back cover to the pages so that it will not open. On the inside front cover of the book, glue a photo of your daughter and maybe a story of where you found the sand dollar.  You can either leave the hollowed area of the book open so the sand dollar can be touched or glue a sheet protector over it, now you have a display case and memory book that can be closed so she can carry it to school.  You also have a project you can work on with your child.

  4. Shadow box ;)))

  5. get you a shadow box  and glue it in  and make a little secen around it  and where  you got it like a scraop book; page but just framed
