Sand filter on our pool & initially after backwashing we get good pressure but then it is gone what do we do?

Pressure drop in anything beyond the pump is a suction based issue. Clogged skimmer line, baskets, pump impeller. Suction leak in a line, impeller shaft seal burnt out, bad lid O ring. Could be any of those things but you can eliminate anything past the pump as the culprit, including your filter.
