I was trying to water the plants around 6:30PM. I turned on the lawn water faucet and hugh amount of sand sprouted from the hose. I don't know where these sand coming from? Thereafter, the lawn water faucet has very low water pressure and same thing inside our house. Anyone here know what cause the sand to come out from the pipeline? Is this the city problem or my problem? Thank you.

  1. Are you on a well or municipal supply?

  2. Sometimes when they work on the mains they get sand, dirt, gravel, and other fill materials into the pipes. When it is put back in service that grit washes down-line and comes out in peoples homes. Toilet valves really suffer as particles jam it and it cant shut off. most pipes are bedded in sand to prevent breaking when the earth moves around them.

  3. Just a guess, but maybe your water supply pipe cracked.  Call the city.  They will make a determination of where the crack is, and who's responsible.

Another reason would be a break in a water main in your area.  Call the city and ask that, too.
