Sand in a digital camera?

Question

i went to the beach sunday i had my digital camera in my purse, sum how sand got in there =/

and it got in the cameras, lens thing, that comes in and out, when i turn the camera on and off, zoom in and out, it makes a cracking noise.

how can i get the sand out??

The only recourse you have is to send and have it repaired.  This is not an easy procedure, as the sand (and being turned on with sand in it) could have easily broken some gears.  Camera equipment of any type and sand are not good friends.  

Also note that under no means will the warranty cover the repair.  They are not responsible for you bringing your camera to the beach and having sand get inside of it.
