Question:

Sand paper feeling rash???

My son's skin on his chest feels different in patches. The only way that I can describe it is like an extremly light sandpaper feel to it. If you look close enough you can see that his skin is slightly raised in patches. Not raised like it is swollen, but just little tiny bumps that are raised. There is no skin discoloration or anything. Any ideas?? It showed up about 4 days ago.

  1. eczema?  If he had a fever or its on his face, hands, genitals definitely call the DOCTOR.

  2. it could be scarlet fever--take him to the doctor

  3. eliminate all milk products from his diet, exfoliate his skin gently with a wash cloth before his bath ends, moisturize well, and take him to the pediatrician to rule out a medical cause like food allergies.

  4. Well, a while ago I had sort of the same thing, except the rash was really itchy and there was redness. Maybe it's Fifth Disease. It's not a big deal, but baths are really painful unless you use cool water. Take him to the doctor, they should be able to prescribe him some anti-biotics and such.

  5. wow!!!!!!!!!!!,, my son is 4 yrs ld and his is the same,, a few weeks back he had a temp and was scratching his body,, even after he was better his skin is still like sandpaper,, all on his chest, thighs, back, arms,, nearly everywhere, and he has it in patches too

i reckon its something theyr allergic too causing eczema,, cos thats what it feels like, eczema!

as my other son has eczema i use his cream and some sorbelene to moisturize,, though its very stubborn and hasnt improved too much with the creams

i havent been dr about it cos apart from some itching hes quite well

good luck with your son,, i need that luck too, lol xxxxxxxxxxx
