Question:

Sand skimming and wave skimboarding?

Alright so, i've only gone sand skimming a few times, so i don't have it mastered or anything but wave skimming appeals to me a lot more. i know there are different boards for the two, so i was wondering if it would be a bad idea to start trying to wave skim without mastered sand skimming first?

  1. I agree, definitely doesn't hurt to try. But if you master being able to balance & gain speed on the sand, it will be easier to catch waves. When you practice more and decide you really want to pursue skimboarding, I would recommend buying a good quality board; this can make a huge difference. Lighter, more bouyant boards are intended for wave riding. Zap makes a full line of good quality boards.

  2. never hurts to try. just start out with your basic stuff though, dont try to pull any flips or stupid things.  But it definetly wouldn't be bad to just learn to launch off a wave or two.  You will land in water anyways
