  1. Boat making...maybe?

Anyone who is good at math answer my question. I am asking you to tell me how to do it too, don't forget!

  2. I have done this in Florida as a pre-school teacher....we call the mixture of beach SAND and water ..."slip"  I think that you have really already done this activity with your need/explanation......."Sand/Water TABLE ACTIVITIES"

So, get a manipulative table or water play table (with a ledge) and put out sand and water.......people over think sensory-motor activities too much......keep it simple and that is genius.  I am guessing that you want sensory-motor, problem solving, cognitive, cause and effect???? Just put out some sand, water, cups....maybe some other small things that fit in the hand but not the mouth ....and you are a pro on this one............YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!

  3. seeing how things float and also making guesses on how long it will take for the items to pass through an object with holes. Also it is fun to use rice in the tables as well.

  4. Use anything edible being that they are at a very oral stage ie. pudding, mashed potatoes, jello, oatmeal not cooked is a blast to play in but it does get them powdery.  Add food coloring to water with sink and float toys. Freeze different shape of ice cubes add food coloring(circle, square, and rectangle bowls) and add to warm water. Just make sure you play in it too as to see when they are getting too cold. Watching the melting and the colors mix makes a great activity.

    Have a great time!

  5. boats in water would be good for that age group.  You have to think about sticking beans up noses, eating sand so you need something that won't hurt them if ingested.  Be sure and change the water each day coz you know they'll be putting those boats in their mouths!

  6. I'm assuming that because this is for infants that there is direct supervision.  Here are some things that I have done but remember direct supervision is necessary.

I purchased large and small polished rocks from the dollar store.  WOW!  What a hit. I had a funnel nearby, tongs (for the older children), different types of containers (so they could here the different sounds), I had squeeze containers (mustard--the dijon ones are clear and you can add colored water), I had spoons, cups, bowls, etc.

I've added foam shapes and squirt bottles.  They loved it!

Add some snow to the one side of the water table...large crafts sticks are usually a hit with the younger ones as they can stick it into the snow and manipulate it.

I added "gems" to the sand.  Those colored "beads/mancala beads".  They ran them through their hands over and over.

I added water bottles, molds, rolling pins.

I added a dramatic play kit (safari animals) to the sand.

Trucks are always a hit.  You can hotglue a cardboard rectangle to the front of a truck to make a bulldozer.

The list goes on.  Hope this gives you an idea!
