Sandeep Singh and Sardara Singh to face punishment from Hockey India – Hockey News
The two penalty corner specialists Sandeep Singh and Sardara Singh will have to face a tough situation as they are likely to be punished by Hockey India due to their undisciplined behaviour in the training camp. Both players left without any prior permission
and information from the coach, Michael Nobbs, and camp coordinator S.S. Grewal.
Narinder Kumar Batra, the Secretary General of Hockey India, the sport’s governing body in the country, stated that the issue looked like quite a serious situation and a meeting has been scheduled to be held on Saturday, August 27 to decide about the future
course of action regarding Sandeep Singh and Sardara Singh. He further stated that the players had left the training camp without any permission from the coach, Michael Nobbs and this adds further to the seriousness of the case.
Narinder Batra earlier told that the duo has provided the grounds and explanations for leaving the training camp through an e-mail.
"They have sent a mail explaining the reasons. I cannot reveal the contents at this moment. We won't take this matter lightly. The disciplinary committee headed by Pargat Singh is looking into the matter and we have called a meeting on Aug 27 where the selectors
and coaches will be present to discuss the issue," Batra said.
He further stated that the case will be investigated and monitored by the Disciplinary Committee as it was reported by the coach, Michael Nobbs and S.S. Grewal that it was the third time the players are involved in similar incidents.
Batra also stated that both players will be treated fairly and neutrally and they will be provided an ample chance to explain and clear their side involving the issue.
Meanwhile, Narinder Batra believed that the Indian Hickey federation (IHF) is the responsible for this mess-up. It will be interesting to see what is decided on the fate of the two players as they left the training camp without permission. Time will tell
what Hockey India will decide on what punishment to give the players for their actions during the training camp.
