everyone seems to have problems with this. i just bought an 8 GB sandisk microsd for my blackberry pearl. when i format in on my computer it is 7.6 GB but won't work with my phone (this messege appears on my phone's screen: "a media card has been inserted that contains errors to correct the errors please use a disk error-checking utility on a computer"). then when i format it on my cell phone it is turns into 3.6 GB, but can work on my cell. why does it do that, besbuy and blackberry told that the pearl is fully compatible with 8 GB. am i missing something or did i just waste my money?

  1. No Buddy You didnt waste your hard earned money on this. Actually itsthe error of the software as some time it cant read the total space in a memory card or in the disc. So I advice you change the PC and use a PC that is having XP or Vista and then check or format and I suggest that you should format once to know the space and another thing is that it may be damage so it cant check it fully. So before using the scan disc format the same.

  2. What model of BlackBerry Pearl do you have? And what is the operating system version you have on it? In order for the BlackBerry device to read 8GB microSDHC cards you need to be running handheld operating system v4.3 or higher. I know the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 ships with handheld OS 4.2, which only supports up to 4GB cards.

If you have one of the new Pearl models (8110, 8120 or 8130) it should read the card fine. You will want to format the memory card inside of the BlackBerry, though.
