Sandown attracts five runners for Kilbrittain Castle Novices’ Chase
Five runners have been attracted towards the Kilbrittain Castle Novices’ Chase at Sandown in England on Friday, February 24, 2012. The triumphant horse of the class-2 event will get a cash prize of £8,123.
Paul Nicholls’ trained gelding, Toubab, will be the bookmakers’ favourite. He has entered a couple of chase races in his career until now, but failed to win any of them. However, he does have one second place finish, which indicates that he has the potential
to finish on top of the table.
Toubab’s last outing at Sandown did not prove to be a very good one for him, as he only managed a third place finish. However, that was a hurdle race and he was ridden by a different jockey.
The six-year-old gelding will be partnered by Ruby Walsh today. The veteran jockey has a very decent winning percentage and his recent performances have also been impressive. He has completed a century of chase victories and has a total of 104 to his name.
Another runner, capable of winning the chase is, Bellvano. He is trained by Nicky Henderson, who has plenty of experience in horseracing.
The eight-year-old gelding has got two victories to his name in such events. He also finished as runner up on a couple of occasions and there has been only one time, where he fell out of the top three.
Bellvano will be partnered by A. P. McCoy for this race. The veteran jockey has got nothing to prove, as he has scored 311 chase wins. He is a very good rider and will be aiming to make a strong impact today.
Lancetto, trained by Evan Williams, has also got a good chance of fighting for victory today. He has taken part in five chase races and managed to win a couple of them. Other than that, he also has one third place finish, which will encourage the bettors
to put some money on him.
The seven-year-old gelding will be ridden by Paul Moloney, who has earned 121 chase victories. He will be up against some of the best in the business, but will be aiming to make a strong impression.
Although there are just five entries for this race, the level of competitiveness is quite high, which will spice things up for the spectators and the punters.
