Sandown to host jumps season awards: Horse Racing news
So far this racing season has provided the fans of the sport and all those involved in the horse business with a great deal of quality racing. These races have been contended by some of the best racehorses from the United Kingdom. Moreover, these champions
were being saddled by the most experienced and competent trainers, and ridden by the most celebrated and famed jockeys.
Keeping all these spectacular performances in mind, the management of the Sandown meeting have decided to host an award ceremony to celebrate the highlights of the jumps season and also the horse of the year. This award ceremony will take place on Saturday,
23rd April, before the closing race of the season takes place at the Sandown racecourse. It has been revealed that the fans of the sport will be able to vote for their favourites in the aforementioned categories.
The two awards are being flaunted by the name of People’s Jumps Season Awards and Jump Racing’s Horse of the Year Award. These awards are sponsored by Channel 4 and the Sandown Park. It has been revealed that the public would be allowed to vote for the horses
that they cheered for, and for the moments that they enjoyed the most in the 2010-11 jumping season. They will vote for these categories from amongst five moments that have been chosen by Channel 4 presenters, John Francome and Nick Luck.
The listed moments from which the public will have to chose have been revealed to be the victory of Sam Waley-Cohen in the prestigious King George VI Chase and then the Gold Cup 2011. Moreover, the racehorse finished in second place in the Grand National
meeting. Then there are the spectacular performances of the racehorses Denman and Kauto Star in the Gold Cup.
Next on the list is the victory of Rodi Greene aboard the racehorse The Giant Bolster at the Cheltenham Festival, followed by the Cheltenham Festival exploits of Pat Rodford and Keiran Burke. Last but not least was the victory posted by Baby Run (trainee
of Willie Twiston-Davies) at the Aintree racecourse.
