Sandra Gal all set for Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship 2012
German Sandra Gal is one of the key contenders who are able to record a surprise finish at the upcoming Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship 2012, set to be played from October 25-28, at Yang Mei, Taoyuan, Taiwan.
Gal may not as good as stars like Paula Creamer or current world number Yani Tseng who is the defending champion of the upcoming battle, but she certainly has what it takes to rattle rivals on the course.
The German golfer will have to face a strong lineup that will include stars like Michelle Wie, Lexi Thompson, Ai Miyazato, Suzann Pettersen, Inbee Park, Na Yeon Choi, Vicky Hurst, Jodi Ewart, Jennifer Johnson, Lindsey Wright, Katherine Hull, Chella Choi, Nicole Castrale, Lizette Salas, Pernilla Lindberg, Katie Futcher, Cristie Kerr, Beatriz Recari, Jessica Korda and Meena Lee of South Korea.
Gal has training hard on the practice range, and has been able to fix most of the flaws in her putting and swing. With the renewed confidence, Gal plans to record at least one victory in the 2012 season.
Last year, the rising LPGA star impressed her fans at the 2011 Kia Classic as she outrivaled South Korean Jiyai Shin by one stroke.
Observers said that winning at the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship will not be easy for Gal, as players like Tseng and Na Yeon Choi will be pushing themselves to limit in order to win in Asia.
Despite this, observers said, a surprise finish cannot be ruled out as Gal has shown in the past that she can bounce back in difficult situations.
Speaking to the LPGA Tour on Tuesday, Gal said that she is confident and will try to score well early in the day, but it will largely depend on the weather conditions.
She went on to say that winds will decide which player remains resilient, as the slightest change in weather can wreak havoc on the course.
“I think it’s all about the wind here this week, having a good trajectory in the wind and being consistent. I think putting is a big deal as well because the winds are very strong and it’s kind of hilly. So just kind of adjusting to that and I think you’ll be good,” the 27-year-old said.
