Sandra Gal eyes her first LET title at Unicredit Ladies German Open
Sandra Gal, who won the 2011 Kia Classic in an impressive style, is eager to record her first LET (Ladies European Tour) victory at the Unicredit Ladies German Open, slated to be played from May 24-27, at Golf
Park Gut Hausern, Germany.
Gal belongs to Germany, and her presence is expected to shine the field, featuring several professional players.
Officials informed that this year’s event is going to feature four previous winners of the German Open, which has triggered interest in the spectators.
They added that there will be thirteen German players including Gal.
German players are expected to capitalize on the home crowd and course, but non-German contenders appear to have a solid profile in terms of victories.
Diana Luna, who won the 2011 edition of the German Open, is one of the hot favourites for the coveted title. Analysts said that local players like Gal may find it hard to put pressure on past winners, but local
support can work in their favour.
With just victory on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association), Gal is keen to move ahead on the LET Tour as well. Although an avid fan of European Tour, as she has represented her team in the Solheim
Cup, Gal still has not been able to prove her worth on the Tour.
Speaking to the media about her plans for the tournament, the German prodigy said that she is confident that she can display a much better game on the course. She added that the field is tough, but she has
been training hard on the practice range.
“I’m taking it day by day and seeing how much I can practice,” she shared.
“I worked really hard on my game the two weeks that we had off before the Sybase match play event. Unfortunately I got injured on my left foot and I couldn’t practise last week almost at all and this week I’ve
got to take it easy, so that’s a bit of a minus but I still think my game is good and it’s on the up”.
However, the 27-year-old superstar said that she is quite happy to play in her country and looks forward to recording her first LET win.
