Sandra Gal firm to record her second victory at New Jersey this month
German Sandra Gal, who recorded her first professional victory in the 2011 season at Kia Classic, is seeking to revamp her game to register the second victory of her career in the current season.
Gal is going to participate in the ShopRite LPGA Classic, scheduled to start from June 1-3, at the Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club, New Jersey. Although winless in the current season, the German star is trying to fix her lapses in order to improve her
game.
Gal may not find it easy to grab a victory at an event known for staging a tough battle.
According to the tournament officials, this year the field is stronger than last year, as it is featuring most of the  top-ranked LPGA stars.
Although the roster has plenty of strong contenders, the current world number one, Yani Tseng, and the defending champion, Brittany Lincicome, top the list of hot favourites.
In addition to Tseng and Lincicome, Azahara Munoz will also be considered one of the tough players. Munoz is brimming with confidence due to her latest victory at the Sybase Match Play Championship.
Analysts said that the strong field may be cause for concern for some players, but Gal is not going to let her nerve trouble her on the course. They said that despite having just one victory in her profile, the German prodigy has what it takes to beat rivals.
Gal herself seems sure that her LPGA victory at the 2011 Kia Classic is going to help her maintain the momentum. The professional golfer could not win the 2012 edition of the Kia Classic, but had vowed to repeat the 2011 performance.
“It did a lot for me because I always wanted to win out here. When you do it, you realize you can do it more often. So that kind of gave me the momentum for the year, and I had a few good finishes,” she had shared a few hours before taking on rivals in the
2012 Kia Classic.
Golf commentators said that it remains to be seen how the 27-year-old German if going to fare against rivals. Other key contenders in the roster include Stacy Lewis, Jessica Korda, Laura Davies and I. K. Kim.
