Sandra Gal in the roster of Evian Masters 2012
German Sandra Gal, who finished third in the US Women’s Open 2012, is ready to take on rivals at the Evian Masters 2012, scheduled to be held from July 26-29, at Evian-les-Bains, France.
Gal stunned her fans when she displayed a tremendous performance at the US Women’s Open 2012, one of the major tournaments on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour, and now that the field for Evian Masters 2012 has been published, she is taking her game more seriously.
The Evian Masters 2012 is going to feature a very strong field that will include players like current world number one Yani Tseng, Stacy Lewis, Catriona Matthew, Caroline Hedwall, Azahara Munoz, Sophie Gustafson, Anna Nordqvist, Maria Hjorth, Melissa Reid, Christel Boeljon, Karen Stupples, Suzann Pettersen, Laura Davies, Paula Creamer, Lexi Thompson, Na Yeon Choi and Ai Miyazato.
Although the field is tougher than most of the analysts had anticipated, Gal is confident that her solid work ethic will help her every step of the way. Thanks to rigorous training on the practice range, the German golfer has managed to fix flaws in her putting and swing.
Gal has won only one title on the LPGA Tour so far. She managed to record the maiden victory at the Kia Classic 2011, which gave her plenty of confidence.
However, her most momentous event has been the US Women’s Open 2012, as she came close to beating some of the most prominent LPGA contenders. She remained in contention till the final moment and played balanced strokes on most of the holes.
Analysts said that at one point during the final round at the US Women’s Open 2012, it seemed that Gal would trample her rivals and record her first major victory. However, due to mistakes she made on some holes, she could not make her dreams come true.
“I mean it was a bit frustrating because it was hard to catch up with her unless she had a really bad day, which I'm not hoping for anyone. On this golf course once you're six shots behind, it's hard to make it up. So basically it was just a battle for second or third,” Gal had expressed her thoughts at the end of the major battle.
