Sandra says Brazil and USA will meet in the final showdown of the 2012 Olympic BVB Tournament – Volleyball News
Atlanta Olympics champion Sandra Pires from Brazil has recently stated that female duo from her own country has the potential to claw its way to the final match of the 2012 London Olympics Beach Volleyball Tournament, which is currently underway at the Horse Guards Parade in London.

“This is a farewell tour for USA’s Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh and they have certainly been great champions and no one is smarter than them during a match. Brazil’s Juliana and Larissa are on fire and neither one of them have forgotten about 2008 when Juliana got injured and Larissa was forced to play with a different player which was very, very tough on both of them,” stated Sandra on her blog post.
Juliana-Larissa gave out an outstanding performance in the opening two matches of the 2012 London Olympics. They took on Mauritius’ http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ilka_Semmler&action=edit&redlink=1 of Germany in the second match. Hence the team finished with 2-0 record at the end of day-2.
On the other hand, American Walsh and May-Treanor took a winning start in the Olympic competition. They also appeared in two matches and launched full authority on respective competitors. They defeated duos from Australia and Czech Republic, respectively.
Juliana-Larissa are ranked No. 1 in the tournament, while Walsh-Treanor are ranked third. Nonetheless, both teams are enjoying a top form and are tipped to meet in the finals.
Sandra is regarded as an Olympic gold medallist. She secured the top position at the 1996 Olympic Games that took place in Atlanta. She was paired with Jackie Silva and together they reached the top spot. Furthermore, she settled for bronze-ware at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. Back then she teamed up with Adriana Samuel. They were defeated by home duo of Natalie Cook and Kerri Pottharst in the semis.
