Sandrine Mainville impresses in Point Claire: Day two – 2011 Canadian Summer Open Championships

Sandrine Mainville impressed the arena with her performance on day two of the 2011 Canadian Summer Open Championships in Point Claire, Canada, on Friday, July 22.
Sandrine Mainville won the Women’s 100m freestyle crown, while Richard Hortness snared the Men’s 100m freestyle title. Tera Van Beilen captured the Women’s 100m breast-stroke crown, whereas, Giacomo Perez Dortona snagged the Men’s 100m breast-stroke title.
Karyn Jewell took home the Women’s 400m Individual Medley crown and Jordan Hartney grabbed the gold medal in the Men’s 400m IM. Rachel Goh clinched the Women’s 50m back-stroke crown, while Dorian Gandin snatched the Men’s 50m back-stroke title.
Mainville captured the Women’s 100m freestyle crown with a winning time of 55.61 seconds, whereas, Jennifer Beckberger finished second in a time of 55.80 seconds. Caroline Lapierre-Lemire rounded out the top three swimmers in a time of 56.41 seconds.
Richard Hortness took home the Men’s 100m freestyle title with a sterling time of 50.38 seconds, while Medhy Metella was placed second in 50.47 seconds. Romain Magula earned third place honours in a time of 50.56 seconds.  
Meanwhile, the Women’s 100m breast-stroke crown was taken over by Tera Van Beilen with a triumphant time of 1 minute and 08.92 seconds, whereas, Kierra Smith wound up second in 1 minute and 09.40 seconds. The third place went to Ashley McGregor in a time
of 1 minute and 09.46 seconds.
Afterwards, the Men’s 100m breast-stroke crown was clinched by Giacomo Perez Dortona with a winning time of 1 minute and 01.73 seconds. In the Women’s 400m IM meet, Karyn Jewell earned the golden crown with a triumphant time of 4 minutes and 47.46 seconds,
whereas, Jordan Hartney retained the gold medal in the Men’s 400m IM with an impressive time of 4 minutes and 18.40 seconds.
The Women’s 50m back-stroke crown was won by Rachel Goh with a winning time of 28.80 seconds. In addition, Dorian Gandin snared the gold medal in the Men’s 50m back-stroke meet after he touched the finishing wall in a sterling time of 25.96 seconds.
