Barcelona president, Sandro Rosell, has blasted the two Premier League clubs, Manchester City and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, for attempting to destabilise Barcelona by offering huge amounts of money to star players and promising youngsters from the academy.
This accusation is happening right after the reigning Premier League champions, Manchester City, are reported to have targeted http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Busquets-c33048, who has been on the radar of City for quite some time now.
City have denied that it has any links with the player. Regardless, this apparent talent hunt by the deep-pocketed English clubs is not going down well with Barca president.
"City are now doing at first team what Arsenal have been doing at academy: call players and offer them lots of money,” he retorted.
Rosell believes that all of this is happening because Barcelona are the best club in the world and they have players who can turn any team into gold.
"We are the best in the world, so other clubs want to emulate our success at every level and with every policy. They want to repeat our success and cause us to lose. But we will remain calm and focused on ourselves.”
Meanwhile, the 48-year-old believes that Barcelona have the capacity to protect its precious stars and also revealed that previously many clubs had approached Messi for talks but the Argentine declined their offers and decided to stay.
"Some clubs have asked about Messi, but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leo-c22011 personally has refused to negotiate."
Finally, the Barcelona president also believes the German Bundesliga is much better managed than the Premier League and has also suggested La Liga to emulate and mirror the Bundesliga in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904.
"Barca has never received an offer from a sheikh. La Liga needs to mirror the view of the Bundesliga and not the way the Premier League and some of their clubs function."
Currently, Barcelona are the leaders of La Liga now with 19 points following their unbeaten run of seven games.
They will be hoping to extend their sensational run in the league when they travel to Riazor stadium on Saturday, October 20.
