Sandro Rosell brags about Barcelona’s homegrown players – La Liga News
In a week full of international football, Barcelona president, Sandro Rosell, has done his best to keep the media spotlight on himself. The Catalan executive has come out to brag about the homegrown players in the squad of Spanish champions.
Giving out the framework of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604’s plans for the future, he said that the Camp Nou outfit wants to retain their position at the top of world football. He said that success will mean they are able to be number one both on and off the pitch.
"Our objective is to remain the world’s best club. The challenge is to maintain our current position, both on and off the field."
Rosell has voiced his views about the great work individuals have done at La Masia and the conveyor belt of producing world talents.
He said that there are only two ways to get great talents: either you buy them across the multitude of borders or you produce them, and highlighted Barca's success with the latter.
"To have good players you can either buy them from outside the club or develop them at home. We’ve clearly opted for the latter option," Rosell said at the Aspire4Sport conference in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Qatar-c2986
While talking on the subject, he said that the players in the youth academy are the best in the world, and revealed that the Catalans are willing to spend as much as necessary to produce prodigious talent.
"At La Masia, we are producing the best players in the world. We are more than happy to pay them well, because that would mean they are the best players."
The recent statements of the Catalan supremo come after his demand for radical changes in football’s governing policies. Rosell wants FIFA and UEFA to pay players' wages when they are away on international duty.
In his defence, he pointed out that the governing bodies profit from the services of players they are paying. Hence, if they want to make money off their players, they should bear the burden of their wages.
He claimed that Barcelona and several other top European clubs are considering breaking out from the European body if their demands are not taken seriously.
