Barcelona president has snubbed all of Ronaldo’s claims where he thinks that he can win the Ballon d’Or this time round.
The last season saw http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 losing out to of the most important competitions in their vicinity, the UEFA Champions League and the Spanish La Liga.
The Catalan giants were the defending European champions, but a loss against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 was enough to keep them out of the European final for the second consecutive year.
Later, they had a chance to beat Real Madrid and win the Spanish La Liga, but they lost the game at the Nou Camp and had to surrender to Jose Mourinho’s men in the league and lost the title after winning it for three successive years.
On the other hand, Real Madrid, just like Barcelona, managed to reach the semi-final of the Champions League and couldn’t win against Bayern Munich when the match went down to a penalty shootout.
However, they were able to win the Spanish La Liga, all thanks to a perfect team setup but Jose Mourinho.
Barcelona eventually won the Copa del Rey, making it the only Spanish silverware for them throughout the season.
Now, with the season ending, Messi had better statistics as compared to Cristiano http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734, but the Portuguese helped his side win the Spanish La Liga, just like Messi did last season.
Moreover, Ronaldo has also managed to help his national team reach the semi-final stage of the Euro 2012 and that can be a reason why he might win the Ballon d’Or this season; despite the fact that Messi has scored 80 goals in 63 games for club and country.
Since Ronaldo has managed to help his national side, and Messi is resting with no international tournaments being held for the South American teams, the Portuguese skipper believes that he has a chance of grabbing the Ballon d’Or this year.
However, Barcelona’s club president has snubbed all such claims which the Portuguese skipper has made and believes that Messi is the only player deserving of the prestigious individual award.
While speaking about Ronaldo’s claims, Rosell said:
"http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 everyone is clear that Messi ought to win the Ballon d'Or but not here."
Cristiano Ronaldo will be playing the Euro 2012 semi-final against Spain, a team consisting of his Real Madrid team-mates and the Barcelona stars who come up against him in the Spanish La Liga.
