After the conclusion of the 2011/12 Spanish top flight season, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 came out in the media to talk about his chance of securing the Ballon d’Or award at the start of 2013, bringing Lionel Messi’s dominance in footballing ranks to a halt.
Barcelona president, Sandro Rosell, did not enjoy reading the comments made by the Portuguese hot shot and took out time to give his take on the matter.
The former Nike executive claimed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734 is not the best player in the world, neither is he the second best player, but is 12th in the line behind eleven Barcelona starting players.
Rosell further took jibes at the Portuguese and the Spanish public, stating that the former Manchester United player has no claim on his second Ballon d’Or award and believes it will be Messi who will land his fourth successive award in January 2013.
"Cristiano Ronaldo isn't the second best player in the world, he is the 12th. The first 11 are Barca players.”
"Outside of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 everyone is clear that Messi ought to win the Ballon d'Or but not here."
Rosell also took out time to give his backing to Tito Vilanova, and could not refrain himself from taking shots on Jose Mourinho, who famously eye poked the new manager in a fight marred Spanish Super Cup fixture.
The Catalan businessman stated that he does not want a manager who will do anything to win like the Special One and suggested that had he been a Real Madrid executive, he would have asked Barcelona for forgiveness, irrespective of the ties the two clubs
have.
"I would not accept a manager who wants to win at any cost," Rosell commented.
"I would ask for forgiveness if the manager of this club put their finger in anyone's eye."
As Tito Vilanova makes the managerial position in Barcelona dressing room his very own, the Catalan club have also managed to extend the contract of Sporting Director, Andoni Zubizarreta. The former goalkeeper had a June 2013 expiring contract that has been
extended to summer 2016.
