Question:

Sandwich delivery business question?

I love sandwiches. I used to work in an office. Most lunchtimes I would have nipped out for a sandwich at my local deli counter. Sometimes the ques were a joke though. And I always thought what if I could have preordered my sandwich and got it delivered that would have been terrific. Soup too in winter would have rocked. So long as freshness and quality was not sacrificed that would be a good thing. Some prepacked sandwiches are rediculous - lousy filling portions.

Anyway where I live there is a large proportion of civil servants, public sector workers, teachers etc. I find it difficult to understand why no-one has taken advantage of this potential market - i.e. delivering pre-ordered sandwiches to these places. Am I missing something? I would love to do this myself but I am reluctant to quit my "secure" job. Is it a good business idea? There would be loads of room for expansion i.e. catering functions, providing platters, offering salads in the menu.

  1. to many hygine regulations ect for a small return  dont bother

  2. Well in the states we have many places sandwiches places also but not all deliver.  That is unless it is catering order.  At my company we have a lot of meetings that we have catered and most of the time it is sanwiches, salad and soup that we order.  We used to order hot food but if everyone is no ready to eat at the same time the food goes cold and somethings are not good reheated.  There are a few that deliever like Jimmy Johns, Quiznos and Panera (only catering).  Out of these we like and find the best catering comes from Panera.  Look them up online they have great food!  And all different kinds of bread and cheeses.  I love the variety and they make fresh bread daily and I also love their bagels.  I could eat at Panera for breakfast lunch and dinner.  Hopefully this help I know the culture is very different overseas.  Good Luck!

  3. I dont know where you live/work, but we have pizzerias on almost every corner. And they make and deliver pre-ordered deli sandwiches.

  4. I researched this subject as part of a btec course in catering management. Its not as simple as it sounds, you must first find premises or get your home kitchen passed by very very strict hygiene inspectors, you were not allowed to use the same equipment for domestic purposes - no pets in the house. Then there's the public liability insurance - in case you poison someone. Refrigerated transport, storage, the restrictions are rigid.

I passed my course but decided against the sandwich take away

  5. It's a VERY tough, competitive market out there!Regulations are a huge headache,ie.hygiene, nutritional value of sandwich,% of what quantities of each ingrediant are a nightmare!

Sorry to put a downer on your expectations, but we tried, using the best ingred & only managed to last 2 years with very little profit.

Be prepared for alot of hard work,a 7 day week & getting fed up of the sight of sarnies!

    Good Luck!

  6. research it heavily first !!!!!!!!! it sounds like you`ve found a niche in the market for your area, but you also have to ask yourself why has nobody done it?????????whilst your doing your research too,be carefull of what and who you ask as someone might nick your idea.

Try asking people within the companies near your office where they purchase their lunch, and things like what they eat?how much they spend etc.

also research your competitors prices and menus etc.

if all these boxes tick then go for it and good luck as i know how difficult business is,although it can be very rewarding too.

    good luck

  7. a sandwich sounds goood right about now:)

  8. I support you fully but hurry up and get the buisness nation wide as i live in the northeast so i dont think your delivery area would strech that far yet

  9. u just made me hungry and now i feen a sandwich

if i could get a sandwich delivered that;ll be great!  lOl

    peace ♫
