Sandy Alomar Jr. happy with his recent interviews with Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox
The current Cleveland Indians’ bench coach was recently interviewed with Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox for their potential managerial position. His vast playing career in Major League Baseball is the main reason why both teams met with him to see their
evaluate their chances on how Alomar Jr. will assist and possibly work for the Red Sox and the Cubs for the 2012 season.
Though after having a long conversation with both managements, he was quite confident and later told the media that he felt positive about these interviews, but on Sunday he went on to say, “They both were thorough interviews. I felt like Boston's were a
little longer. They spaced everything out, Here with the Cubs it was pretty much everything ... the three gentleman [were] in there and they bombard you with different questions, different angles from one style of play to the next or from line-up making to
video evaluating and moves.”
Alomar’s recent comments with utter confidence are suggesting he will be much happier if he gets the chance to mange a team. On the other hand, it is important to note that he is not the only one who was interviewed with the Cubs’ management in the recent
past. Philadelphia Phillies’ bench coach Pete Mackanin, along with Milwaukee Brewers’ hitting coach Dale Sveum and Texas Rangers’ pitching coach Mike Maddux are also front runners for this potential job in the Cubs’ franchise.
According to some baseball experts, among all these candidates, Alomar Jr. is the favourite to possibly grab this opportunity. He is an experienced individual, who has spent almost 19 years in the league and recently started his coaching career with the
Cleveland Indians.
Alomar Jr. whose recent coaching credentials were closely observed by the Chicago Cubs’ GM Hoyer and now he too wants to appoint a manager that will stay in the franchise for quite some time to help build the team for future seasons. It will be interesting
to see which club manages to hire Sandy and what his impact will be for the respective team in the 2012 season.
