Sandy Jones takes charge of the Denison Volleyball Programme – Volleyball news
The Denison girls’ volleyball team, which has the official mascot of Yellow Jackets, has recently hired Sandy Jones as the head coach.
Jones is not new to Denison High School volleyball programme as she already mentored the Yellow Jackets a few years back. Hence, she is only a returning coach who has replaced Shari Christenson. The former coach of Denison was offered to take up the position
of head coach at Brentwood Academy in Tennessee, which she accepted and parted ways with the Yellow Jackets.
Jones revealed how she got into the job. She said, “I heard through the grapevine the job was still open so I sent my resume. I’m really excited to get back in this area.”
On the other hand, Denison athletic director Chad Rogers said, “We interviewed six people. She runs a disciplined program. Obviously she’s had a lot of success. She wanted to build on an overall girls’ athletic programme.”
Jones graduated from S&S and moved to South-eastern Oklahoma State later on. She started her career as an assistant coach on 2004 and joined the Whitesboro volleyball programmes. She offered her services to Whitesboro from 2004 to 2006 and went to Palmer
junior high in the next year.
In the coming years, Jones helped Pottsboro to attain a great reputation in the region. She worked with the Lady Cardinals of Pottsboro for four years and built the programme from scratch. Jones led the Cardinals to many accolades and honours during her
tenure.
Under Jones’ visionary leadership, the Pottsboro squad pulled off success at least 31 matches in each of her four seasons. Jones made a distinction to enable her team to claim an overall record of 131-33. Furthermore, the Lady Cardinals captured three district
titles and claimed 37-3 in district matches. The Cardinal finished the 2008 season with an outstanding 37-6 record.
Now that Jones has a wealth of experience, the Denison high school team will benefit from her wonderful skills. Denison is supposed to move in the district with Sherman, Greenville, Royse City, McKinney North, Lovejoy, Wylie East and Wylie starting this
fall.
